The story of the Wankel rotary engine starts with a vision. Felix Wankel wants to build a new kind of combustion engine. He succeeds in 1957, when his engine worked for the very first time. Later on Audi-NSU uses the engine in some of their production cars like the Ro 80. At the End of the 1960s Mercedes actually uses the rotary engine in a sports car: the legendary Mercedes C111.
