Between 1883 and 1926 Claude Monet lived in a house at Giverny where he created a flower garden and a water garden, which provided the inspiration for his series of paintings known as the “Water Lilies”. The “Water-Lily Pond” portrays this garden, with its water lilies and the Japanese bridge in the background. In the series of eight large canvases on the theme, housed in the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, Monet introduces variations in light according to the hour of the day. Enjoy your visit!

Born 31 years ago in Roubaix, Quentin Carnaille quickly became a force on the art scene north of France. Former architecture student, Carnaille has always been fascinated by how things work. His early works were influenced by clockwork mechanisms, he has diverted from their main use to create jewelry and accessories. It then focuses on the realization of sculptures and greater works with the same aesthetic and inspiration. The contemporary and futuristic ideas influence his work from the beginning, based on its initial orientation on the past and the origins of humanity.

In this episode, we will meet Lee Backer, photographer. He started his career in 1969. His main interests are in natural and man-made landscapes. His passion for natural landscapes began in his youth in rural Northwestern New Jersey.

In the late 1990s, she began to focus on film, creating classic films about artists of her generation who influenced the realities of urban life through their own work.

A key artist of the Italian Renaissance, Raffaello Santi (1483-1520) developed a classical art form, based on drawing, which made him the model for many painters in the following centuries. His favourite theme was the Madonna: you can admire, for example, “The Sistine Madonna” in Dresden and the “The Virgin and Child with St John the Baptist” in the Louvre. In the second half of the 19th century, Edouard Manet (1832-1883) showed great originality in his painting of historic scenes and portraiture of well-known figures, such as the novelist Zola and the poet Mallarmé. Move along, there's nothing to see! In April 2018, the Museum "La Piscine de Roubaix" prepared to expand its exhibition space. In a period of six months, several thousand works had to be unhooked, dusted, restored, moved, and reinstalled. These are unique works for which any handling required extreme precautions. Bruno Gaudichon, curator and founder of the museum, had to employ and bring together several workers in ordert to complete a successful reopening.

In this episode we visit the city of Vallauris where Pablo Picasso became fascinated by the town and the ceramics after visiting an exhibition and it’s where he lived for a decade. The city remains forever marked by the work of this protean artist. Picasso is known in Vallauris for the chapel of the castle and its impressive cycle of paintings entitled "War and Peace". It is also in the museum of ceramics that some of the most beautiful works of the "potter" Picasso are exhibited. The sculpture of “Man with a Sheep”, placed on the Market Square, testifies to the artist's attachment to the city and its inhabitants. In 1959, the castle chapel was inaugurated with his masterpiece "War and Peace" just across the museum Magnelli.

She started with street photography in the late 1980's and then moved into travel and portrait photography. She has spent the last few years photographing the moon, the Milky Way and New York City.

Luca Fiore is a street artist graduated from the decorative arts of Paris in animation section. This is what led him to mix animation and street art to create his own style with his own perception of what should be a street work.

Possibly the most renowned painter in the world, Vincent van Gogh was born in Holland in 1853 but spent most of his life in France. Suffering from mental instability, Van Gogh produced more that 2,000 paintings before committing suicide aged 37. You will discover during this visit some of his most famous masterpieces, in particularly two “Self-portraits” at the Orsay Museum, “Sunflowers” exposed at the National Gallery in London, “Starry Night” and the “Church at Auvers-sur-Oise”.
