Origami

Origami is about the art of paper folding, a Japanese and Chinese millenary tradition. In modern usage, the word “origami” is used as an inclusive term for all paper folding, regardless of their cultural origin. Different folding and sculpting techniques, new models, bright colors – you’ll see all of this in our program! We will teach you how to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture – from simple to complex!

Leonardo: The Mystery of the lost portrait

In 2008, the chance discovery in the South of Italy of an ancient portrait with strangely familiar features takes the art world by storm. Could this be an unknown self-portrait by Leonardo da Vinci? Controversy erupts among the experts. The implications of such a discovery have far-reaching consequences for our understanding of the work of this great Renaissance master.

The decisive moment

In this episode, we will meet Jacqueline Roberts, photographer. She was born in Paris in 1969. After graduating in political science and working for international organizations, she turned to photography. Her work has been the subject of several magazine covers, books, musical albums... She works with old cameras and specializes in unconventional techniques.

Private Tour

Private Tour takes you to discover the exhibition "A landscape of excellence, three figures of French architecture" at the Cité de l'Architecture & du Patrimoine in Paris. This exhibition offers a journey through contemporary creation. Since the 90s, three figures of French architecture have marked the history of art, Frédéric Borel, Marc Barani and Jean-Marc Ibos and Myrto Vitart. They have shown the excellence of French creations in the world.

Artist's Workshop

In this episode, we will focus on the artist Mahjoub Ben Bella. The artist has been working in the North of France for over 40 years. Known for his monumental installations of the 1980s and 1990s, this artist also likes to work on canvas. In his compositions, Mahjoub Ben Bella makes colors dance and transmits the energy of signs.

When I grow up I'll be a photographer

In this episode, the student who took his grandmother as a photo model in the previous episode will tell us about the results of this photoshoot. Then we will follow some students who will have a mission: to make a photo in cinema format. We will also attend the third year printing workshop.

The centquatre

Willy Pierre-Joseph is a professional dancer. He also organizes "training parties" at the Centquatre with his association Wynkl, where improvisation and exchange between dancers are privileged moments. The artist Noël Rasendrason likes to capture these moments that feed his imagination of movement and music. In this report, we will alternate between Willy's training party and Noël's drawing workshop.

We are Artists not Vandals

Rare are the urban art artists who specialize in the technique of optical illusion. This is the case of Zag who since 2013 delights our eyes with great achievements whose medium of choice is the staircase. Sia has been painting with Zag for a few years. She is a former model who has chosen to reconvert to street art.

The decisive moment

In this episode, we will discuss with Pierre Terrasson, photographer. He is considered the rock, punk and new wave photographer of the 1980s, but not only. He started to get interested in photography at the age of 14-15 with his friends. He will tell us how he became a photographer and talk about his life, his career, and what made him famous.

Of Spanish origin, Francis Picabia was an active member of the Dada group. However, being both provocative and iconoclastic, he soon began to scorn the serious nature of the avant-garde movements. His painting was at times realistic, at times abstract, and he sought above all to explore potential in art. This collection opens the doors of the Centre Pompidou (Paris) which presents some of Picabia’s major works, such as his famous “Cacodylic Eye” and “Adoration of the Calf”, recently acquired by the museum. Private Tour

Private visit takes you to discover the exhibition « The Drawing Factory », an exposition of 33 contemporary artists in Paris, from March to September 2021. This exposition was initiated by Christine Phal, founder of Drawing Lab. It brought together 33 different cotemporary drawing artists that come from everywhere and who were selected. These artists have taken over an old hotel in order to pursue their projects or develop new ones. During this visit you’ll discover the singular universe of artists expressing their art in this ephemeral workshop, exposing abstract or surrealist works.

Custom Revolution

In this documentary, we take you on a tour of the world's first custom motorcycle exhibit. In the new and prestigious Peterson Museum in Los Angeles, the charismatic Paul d'Orleans, motorcycle historian, consultant for Bonham's and Sotheby's, gives us a private tour of the exhibition he curated. It is an exhibition where each motorcycle is unique and considered a work of art.

In 15 years of artistic practice, this 37 year old Polish artist has crossed multiple forms of creation, from painting to installation, through performance art.

The Art of Japanese Garden

The Japanese garden comes from the ancient Japanese tradition. It can be found in private homes as well as in city parks and historical sites: Buddhist temples, Shinto tombs, castles. In Japan, garden design is an important and respected art, sharing aesthetic codes with calligraphy and wash painting. The Japanese garden seeks to interpret and idealize nature by limiting artifice.

In this episode, we will meet Lurent Vu, photo reporter. He was born in Nice in 1977, and moved to Paris to study photography. During this period he did an internship at Studio Harcourt, then at Sipa Press, where he still works. He has a taste for portraiture, but also for reportage and journalism.

Private visit takes you to discover the exhibition "Poland 1840-1918, painting the soul of a nation" at the Louvre Museum in Lens. The aim of this exhibition is to show, through prestigious loans from Polish collections, how the painters of this period, at a time when Poland no longer exists, were able to put the national narrative into images and ensure that modern Poland was reborn.

Travelers

Today, Travelers takes us to Lille in France, a city rich in architecture, gastronomy and culture. We will start our visit by the Grand Place where we will discover the old stock exchange which has become a place for book sellers and chess players. We will then go to the Palace of Fine Arts, one of the largest museums in France. We will taste the famous waffles from Meert, a real institution.

China - Masters of the Arts

While the hieroglyphs of Egypt and the cuneiform of Babylon have disappeared, Chinese calligraphy, also graphic and non-alphabetic, has endured through the ages. Of divinatory origin, Chinese characters carry not only a language but a unique way of thinking. A 84th-generation descendant of one of Confucius’s best-known disciples, calligrapher Yan Gongda unrolls before our camera the timeless story of a writing art closer to painting than graphology. In the 16th century, Cardinal Scipione Borghese, the Pope’s nephew, built a villa specifically to house his private art collection, one of the greatest of its time. Bought by the Italian government in 1902, this wonderfully rich collection brings together masterpieces signed by the greatest of artists. You will find one of the copies of Leda and the Swan by da Vinci as well as Caravaggio’s David. Enjoy your visit!

In this episode, we will meet Benjamin Petit, photojournalist. His work focuses on social inequality and climate change issues. He has covered the aftermath of the Arab Spring in Yemen, the refugee crisis in Lebanon and recently documented climate refugees in the Dominican Republic. He has received several prestigious awards and his work has been published in very famous newspapers in France and abroad.
