Today we’re in the North East of England with top wheelchair paralympians Tanni Grey-Thompson and Jade Jones. With loans from across the world, this major retrospective brings together Vermeer’s most famous masterpieces including Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Geographer, The Milkmaid, The Little Street, Lady Writing a Letter with her Maid, and Woman Holding a Balance. In no way was Pierre Bonnard destined to be a painter. However, he became one of the pillars of the Nabi Movement. His work, more closely linked to emotions than to realism, is impossible to classify. It is punctuated with huge sunny landscapes, of both the Mediterranean and Normandy, with interior scenes, with nudes and self portraits. Possibly the most renowned painter in the world, Vincent van Gogh was born in Holland in 1853 but spent most of his life in France. Suffering from mental instability, Van Gogh produced more that 2,000 paintings before committing suicide aged 37. You will discover during this visit some of his most famous masterpieces, in particularly two “Self-portraits” at the Orsay Museum, “Sunflowers” exposed at the National Gallery in London, “Starry Night” and the “Church at Auvers-sur-Oise”.
