It was a dramatic path that Pissarro followed, and throughout it all he wrote extensively to his family. Where do we start when we want to talk about such a famous painting as Velázquez “Las Meninas”? There is an incredibly huge bibliography on this painting, to the point that it is almost utopian to think or hope we can document ourselves on everything in and about it... From the late 1800s to the early 2000s, dozens of books have come out all over the world specifically and solely devoted to this one, single painting. A parallel literary current has even developed around the “enigmas” and “mysteries” connected with “Las Meninas”.

In this episode we will decipher the most famous works of Johannes Vermeer. He was born in 1632 and lived his whole life in Delft. He painted mainly interior scenes, everyday life with middle-class people but also with servants. He is the author of "The Milkmaid", "The Girl with the Pearl" and "The Geographer". He died in 1675 and left behind a collection of about 35 paintings that are exhibited all over the world.

After a two-year touring exhibition, in 2015 Girl with a Pearl Earring returned to the Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague. At 350 years old, the eternal Girl has always retained her aura of mystery and charm. The proof is in the number of curious onlookers (1.2 million) who flocked to catch a glimpse of her during her stay in Japan. The documentary seeks to uncover the many enigmas surrounding this extraordinary painting and its mysterious creator - Vermeer. Who was this girl? Why and how did Vermeer paint this picture? Discover James Goldstein's house in the heights of Hollywood. It is a beautiful example of the architecture of the mythical and prolific John Lautner. When Goldstein bought this property, the house was not finished and Lautner died in the meantime. Goldstein set about finishing it with the help of the famous architect's former associates.
