Based on a major exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, Tokyo Stories spans 400 years of incredibly rich art, from Hokusai’s prints to Pop Art posters, via contemporary photography, manga, cinema and street art. The exhibition was a huge success and attracted a significantly younger and more diverse audience than usual. The film draws on the exhibition to take us to Tokyo and explore the city’s art and artistic figures in greater depth. A superbly illustrated and richly detailed documentary, which traces the journey of a metropolis marked by ceaseless cycles of destruction and rebirth throughout its 400-year history, to become one of the most dynamic and fascinating cities in the world today.

Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres is best known as the painter of the odalisques. Obsessed with the ideal of beauty, he glorified the female form, with its porcelain whiteness and its curves… Ingres struck a path between Classicism and the influence of the Orient. You will see the famous women bathers in “The Turkish Bath” and also some of his historic paintings such as “Oedipus and the Sphinx” and, of course, his portraits, with the famous “Monsieur Bertin”. Adalberto Libera was one of the most important figures in twentieth-century architecture, and also one of the most emblematic: he was both a pioneer of architectural modernity and a convinced Fascist, innovative architect and architect of the regime. Unlike the Nazis, Mussolini allied himself with the modern movement, which became the official architectural style of Fascism. In June 2017, a major exhibition opened in Paris at the Musée d'Orsay. For the first time, this exhibition brought together all Cézanne's portraits. Dulwich Picture Gallery has a collection with extraordinary origins! In 1790, the King of Poland commissioned two London art dealers. They bought paintings all over Europe, which remained in their possession after the fall of Poland. They left the collection to Dulwich College and, following their request, the first public art gallery in England opened its doors in 1817. In the company of experts Phil Serrell and David Harper, the Baroness from County Durham and Middlesbrough’s Jade will be on the lookout for antiques to take to auction in Harrogate. Tanni also tries her hand at traditional glass making and Jade learns about the man who was a design champion of the region.

Move along, there's nothing to see! In April 2018, the Museum "La Piscine de Roubaix" prepared to expand its exhibition space. In a period of six months, several thousand works had to be unhooked, dusted, restored, moved, and reinstalled. These are unique works for which any handling required extreme precautions. Discover James Goldstein's house in the heights of Hollywood. It is a beautiful example of the architecture of the mythical and prolific John Lautner. When Goldstein bought this property, the house was not finished and Lautner died in the meantime. Goldstein set about finishing it with the help of the famous architect's former associates. To top it off, he commissioned James Turrell to create an original work on the hillside.

Although Degas’ art is difficult to classify, it is often associated with the impressionist movement, which emerged in France at the end of the 19th century. Nevertheless, he developed a very personal style with a preference for indoors subjects rather than the open-air scenes favoured by the impressionist painters. It is in the center of Buenos Aires that Eduardo Stupia decided to install his studio entirely dedicated to creation. In a 20th century house, wedged between two modern buildings, he occupies a large space in which he can indulge in his favorite art, drawing. His works, which he describes himself as abstract landscapes, are drawn with pencil, charcoal or Indian ink. In his heterogeneous compositions, where the graphic language and the precision of the gesture hold a central place, Eduardo Stupia explores the semantics of the drawing and opens the fields of the imagination.
